GRI Reporting
GeoAid will begin implementing 2012 reports in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative’s G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and the GRI Mining and Metals Sector Supplement. “The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) produces one of the world’s most prevalent standards for sustainability reporting – also known as ecological footprint reporting, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) reporting, Triple Bottom Line (TBL) reporting, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting. Sustainability reporting is a form of value reporting where an organization publicly communicates their economic, environmental, and social performance. GRI seeks to make sustainability reporting by all organizations as routine as, and comparable to, financial reporting. Our Executive Director completed a GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting Course administered by ISOS Group in Portland, Oregon in November, 2011 and will be guiding GeoAid staff in the process.
The Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) hope is that reporting on economic, environmental and social performance by all organizations becomes as routine and comparable as financial reporting. GRI accomplishes this vision by developing, continually improving and building capacity around the use of its Sustainability Reporting Framework. The GRI indicators and supplements are currently the most widely used framework for sustainability reporting. The reporting framework is used by the UN Global Compact and the ICMM.
